2019 Final Thoughts

As 2019 draws to a close it's a good time to rest, reflect and give thanks for all that this past year has given us and taught us. Even throughout the challenges, loss or pain that this year may have brought, there are always lessons to be learned. I've heard many people say 'my new years resolution is...' or 'next year I will do more of this or that and change these things.' At this time of year, people feel the pressure of a new year to commit to resolutions and vows to make huge changes which can often feel very daunting.

So this is a gentle reminder that you can make a change at any point throughout the year ahead, not just on January 1st. On Wednesday morning, as you wake up to a new year you may not feel ready to make a change and that's okay. You can change and set intentions in tune with the moon cycle, menstrual cycles and the changing of the seasons as life ebbs and flows. Instead of doing fad diets or taking on extreme exercise regimes which leave you feeling burnt out, why not make being kind to yourself and others a priority. Eat mindfully, feed your body what it needs and keep hydrated. Move your body to the rhythm of your life, whether that's a gentle yoga practice, a nature-filled run outdoors or a Box Fit session at your local gym, listen to your body and go as far as feels good. Know that skipping a night out with your friends because you need to rest and take a bath is OKAY. As well as remembering to reach out to friends when you need a lift or if you're feeling down.

So as we bid farewell to 2019 and hello to 2020 my wish for you is that you flourish, be the best version of yourself and remain graceful in the face of challenges that this year may bring. You have all the tools you need within you to find happiness in your own skin.
